Social Justice to Assist Society (SJAS) is registered trust for the empowerment of rural and tribal people of Palghar district of Maharsthra. Likeminded people working for social development of the poor and marginalized formed SJAS in 2004. SJAS conducts kindergarten programme for the small children in remote hamlets of the rural areas of Palghar district. It also promotes self help groups for the rural and tribal women. SJAS activities are implemented with the guidance and support of Fr. Alfons Schumacher Ofm.

Palghar district is formed to focus on the development of the tribal people. Wada, Mokhada, Jawhar, Talasari, and Dahanu, are the tribal blocks in the district. Warli, Ktkari, Konkana, K Thakur, M Thakur and Bhilla are the predominant tribes seen in Palghar district. Warli tribe is the dominant among the tribes in the district.

SJAS conducts kindergarten programme for the tribal children from the age group of 3 to 6. Part time teachers and helpers are selected for this programme from the hamlet itself. All the teachers and helpers are women. These programmes are conducted in five remote hamlets. They are Palnapada, Chandrapada, Sasu navaghar, Tepachapada and Karkanpada.
